About IGS, Baroda

Indian Geotechnical Society, Baroda chapter is one of the oldest chapters of the IGS main body having head quarter at New Delhi. At present there are 48 local chapters of Indian Geotechnical Society in India. IGS-Baroda chapter was formed in the year of 1990 and now it is 31 years old, having more than 300 members from different organizations/fields, like academic institutions, individual consultants, students, practicing engineers, government engineers, construction firms and researchers.

Learning Objectives Vs Learning Activities What is The Difference

Objective

Geotechnical engineering unlike other branches of civil engineering, contains full of uncertainties in arriving amicable solutions for design, protection works etc. Therefore it is imperative to provide a common platform for researchers, practicing engineers, academicians, government engineers to share the knowledge and experience, along with the latest development and best practices continuously for up-gradation of knowledge for society and engineers. To percolate the benefits of all such interactions upto the youngest engineers in Gujarat, Indian Geotechnical Society, Baroda chapter is formed. Chapter is fulfilling these needs by arranging seminars, conferences, expert lectures, webinars, training course in different disciplines of Geotechnical engineering like shallow and deep foundations, ground improvement, environmental geotechnical engineering, forensic geotechnical engineering, offshore investigation and many more, Until now chapter have organized more than 60 such programs successfully.

Events & Awards

During 17 Dec – 20 Dec, 1997 chapter hosted the Indian Geotechnical Conference – 1997 and on the eve of Silver Jubilee year in 2015, chapter hosted 5th Indian Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference as a humongous celebration, the whole event witnessed grand success. The chapter received the IGS-AIMIL Best Local Chapter awards twice in year 1996 and 1999. Chapter also received Appreciation awards thrice for conducting excellent technical activities for the benefits of professionals in 2018, 2019 & 2021.
